Elesha Gayman for Iowa

Thank you for your generous support to my campaign, and I am honored to tell you we did it! Some gave time, some gave money, some sent their prayers, and others helped us spread the word or gave us their vote. Regardless of your role, we would not have been able to win without you!

When the votes were counted we won with 266 votes or 51% to 49% knocking out a two term incumbent. The odds were stacked against us, and many have been on the campaign trail working with me for the past two years. We have knocked on over 20,000 doors, raised just under $100,000, and contributed several thousand volunteer hours.

We have made history, for the first time since 1965 the Democrats are in control of the Iowa House, Iowa Senate, and the Governors seat. I join eight other Iowans under the age of 30 to win a seat in the Iowa House. And finally, I have become the youngest woman to currently serve the Iowa Legislature.

We have accomplished a lot, but our work is just beginning. We have a tremendous opportunity to represent working Iowans, renew a strong commitment to education, and fight to provide healthcare to more Iowans.

I have enjoyed every moment I have shared with you along this journey and it will surely be one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I am honored to serve the Iowa House and will do so with the same enthusiasm, passion, and dedication that you have shown me during the course of my campaign.
